DESCRIPTION OF ABOVE SERVICE:

The Victoria Business and Professional Women's Club was
registered as a society in 1921 under the name KUMTUKS. This Chinook
word means "to know"and "to understand." The KUMTUKS was one of the first
clubs in Canada concerned with the problems of employed women.
In 1930, the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional
Women's Clubs was organized by six clubs with similar interests. As a
charter member of this national organization, KUMTUKS became the Victoria
Business and Professional Women's Club. It is the only national
organization in Canada whose primary concern is the education, employment
and economic status of women.
