It is not well suited to the writing of shell scripts. csh *is*, however, a very flexible and functional tool for the interactive user. As UNIX becomes more popular beyond the highly technical audience it has seen heretofore, the use of csh, and the enhanced tcsh, will likely become significant. DuBois has prepared a most suitable introduction to these shells. Well paced, the book concentrates on their interactive aspects and strengths. The logical organization and copious examples allow readers to follow along and "learn by doing". A worthy companion to Rosenblatt's "Using the Korn Shell" (cf. BKKRNSHL.RVW), this is a valuable addition to O'Reilly's UNIX library. copyright Robert M.
