The list of "threats" to a LAN includes salami attacks, hackers, zappers, tailgaters, and trapdoors. (He also incorrectly defines viruses, "time bombs" - such as Michelangelo - and trojans.) A lot of space is given to wiring and other physical concerns, but it is hard to say what this has to do with security. (True, you do want to have a system that works, but that doesn't seem to be the point.) The book covers a wide range of topics which should provide a good basic for disaster planning. The advice, however, is of inconsistent quality and, as I said before, a lot relates more to mainframes than micros. copyright Robert M.
