Chapters two to seven give reasonable user level coverage to the TCP rlogin, telnet, rcp, rsh, tftp and ftp commands. Two further chapters introduce the UNIX mail and NFS mount commands. There are sections on pitfalls, PC considerations and Internet considerations for each command. The book then continues with some other network services, TCP/IP information, the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model of networking, and other TCP/IP protocols. Aside from telnet and ftp, the TCP/IP commands listed are primarily of use to system or network administrators. They are given adequate coverage in most UNIX administration handbooks. The most likely audience for this book would be a UNIX administrator dealing with a TCP/IP network for the first time. copyright Robert M.
