The explanations are based on the extension: source code for a set of library functions collectively known as the Graphic Java Toolkit (GJT). And there, also, lies the rub. The preface implies, but doesn't state, that you are free to use the GJT as you see fit. The license agreement for the CD- ROM, on the other hand, very clearly spells out the standard one CPU at a time restriction. In fact, it goes a bit beyond that, stating outright that "you may *not* network the SOFTWARE..." In view of the net-centric interest in Java, I would think that is some restriction. (In reponse to the draft of this review, I received the following email: From: rachel@pebblebeach.Eng.Sun.COM (Rachel Borden) We agree that the standard license used by most publishers for their CD-ROMs is confusing. In the case of Graphic Java, we are posting a license specific to Graphic Java and we're making the Graphic Java Toolkit available for free. The license and the toolkit can both be found at the following ftp site: ftp.prenhall.com log in as anonymous use your name as password cd pub/ptr/sunsoft_books.w-053/geary/graphic_java) copyright Robert M.
