Booch states, in the Preface, that this book is intended to help project
managers, senior programmers, professional programmers and students.  Students
will likely find some good "object" lessons in the fact that software
development can easily get out of hand.  Programmers who are used to working
with object oriented languages and processes will probably find some useful
tips in the later chapters.  The text is well supplied with recommended
practices and "rules of thumb".
 
For the senior programmer who is looking for direction in moving into the
object environment, this book will likely provide little in the way of
enlightenment.  Although certain terms are explained, the material assumes both
a familiarity with, and a commitment to, the object process.
 
The project manager will find only the most generic advice in this text.  The
early chapters, dealing with the largest management issues, offer advice which
is almost trite in it's simplicity.  Although object vocabulary is used
frequently, the suggestions given are more "motherhood" statements than
practical tips.
 
The book does give some very good advice in the more immediate areas of
architecture design.  There are a number of tips which can be of great value to
the novice or intermediate object programmer moving into larger projects. 
There should be a large market for this book, but it doesn't include much in
management.
