Most of these are already available, but are either poorly understood or have relatively few trained practitioners. This book is neither a training nor development guide, but a series of management and executive level briefing papers on the newly evolving forms. The twenty three chapters in the book are divided into sections discussing distributed systems and client/server, object-oriented technologies, languages, supporting functions, and future trends. The material is presented in a non- technical language, and provides analysis of both strengths and weaknesses. Each chapter provides a beginning summary, conclusions, outlook and further reading suggestions. (Oddly, the physical format of the starting summary makes the chapters diffcult to read. Instead of simply printing the inaugural material and then the chapter contents, the "front matter" takes up the top half of the page for up to eight pages into the chapter. In order to read the actual content, you then half to flip back again.) (Sorry, guys, no help on the "Year 2000" problem.) copyright Robert M.
