Instead it is a guide and reference to the hard topics: law, taxes, agreements and so forth. Topics covered include legal aspects of operations, income tax and GST, raising capital, partnerships, intellectual property, criminal code, proprietary rights, employees, competition, exports, leasing, customers, and distributors. The reference notes at the end of the book provide a good start on relevant statutes and case law. The book starts, of course, with the standard disclaimer that it does not substitute for professional legal, accounting, and related advice. There are some sections which are poor, such as that dealing with the legal implications of computer viruses. (It appears that this failure is due to a misunderstanding of viruses, rather than the relevant law.) Overall, however, it is an extremely useful reference. copyright Robert M.
