This book is a fairly generic guide to family tree research, with
little significance for those who want to use the net as a tool.

Part one starts with the groundwork.  Chapter one tries to assess your
genealogical motivations to give you some guidance on the style of
your research, but just provides very general information.  Some
rather suspect computer recommendations are in chapter two, along with
more general data.  There is a terse section on searching the Web, but
it doesn't mention other related tools like 411 directories for
finding possible relatives.

Part two, then, suggests finding living family.  Chapter three gives
some vague suggestions about names and places.  A recommendation to
find pre-done research, and some more net info, are in chapter four.

Part three discusses databases.  Chapter five suggests looking at US
government data, without overly stressing the fact that little of it
is available online.  More records that aren't online are described in
chapter six.  Parish registers and other forms of record keeping that
chapter seven talks about are definitely not online.

Part four lists what you can do beyond the basic family research. 
Chapter eight describes some special groups and problems.  Historical
research and background is touched on in chapter nine.  Publishing
your research online is discussed in chapter ten, including an
excellent section on copyright and privacy.

Appendix A lists some Web sites, with no annotations.  Appendix B is a
genealogy source checklist, with no relevance to online work.

Site descriptions and mentions are difficult.  Screenshots have
omitted Uniform Resource Locators (URLs).  I was rather struck by the
International Black Sheep Society of Genealogists, but "IBSSG," "Black
Sheep," and "international" fail to give any clues in the index. 
There is a "workshop" and quiz at the end of each chapter, but these
are simple reading checks.
