The flow, and sometimes the explanations, would not be easy for a novice to follow. A section on reference expressions is missing a very vital operator, and is rather more involved with set theory than most users are likely to get. A chart presenting the order of recalculation shows the same operator for negation (high precedence) and subtraction (low precedence), without explanation. The bulk of the book is taken up with a "dictionary" of functions, commands, and concepts. There are cross references between related commands, but no synonyms. The index does not help fill this gap. copyright Robert M.
