Secret Nation and The Fictional World of Archives

This Canadian film, while having the ring of a documentary, fictionalizes the entry by referendum of the British Colony of Newfoundland into the Confederation of Canada in 1949. Cathy Jones stars as a graduate student named Frieda who returns home to Newfoundland to research in, where else, the public archives, the truth of the referendum.
