About Us

Woodhaven Bobbins is located in a rural district 15 miles west of Sooke, British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada. Our work space overlooks the waters of Juan de Fuca Strait, across to the beautiful mountains of the Washington State peninsula. Our tranquil garden setting near the sea is indeed a haven although we have some miles to travel when running errands in Sooke village or the city of Victoria.

Where's Sooke? Sooke is a small community about 20 miles west of Victoria, BC, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

About Bev: I learned to make bobbin lace about 15 years ago but it wasn't until I discovered the Arachne lace mailing list that I felt connected to the lace world. The ability to contact other lacemakers at the touch of the "send" button has truly been an inspiration. I also make time for spinning and knitting, and the study of historic textiles. When the only lace supplier accessible to us here on the west coast closed her business, I began to think about selling supplies. I started with a vendor table at the annual lace luncheon of the lace clubs in BC, and at our annual lace day in Sooke. Now we're on the net!

Here is a photo of my friend Margaret Merner  and me (with dark blue pillow) demonstrating lace at a shopping mall:
